The Wild and Crazy Adventures of Tom Wayfinder: Story time Spectacular

Tom Wayfinder WEB 2.jpeg

Interactive story telling, plus an all day Riddling Competition!

Martin will bring Tom’s adventures to life, with your help, in three parts:

11am - Tom Wayfinder's Pacific Adventure

1pm - Tom Wayfinder's Mexican Adventure

3pm - Tom Wayfinder's Arctic Adventure

Plus Tom Wayfinder’s Riddle Fest and prize-giving: 4pm

Mums, dads, teenagers, juniors and little ones over 5. Bring the whole gang – there’s plenty for adults to enjoy! Stories and riddles and prizes at the end of the day. The stories are self-contained – and all three add up to an epic adventure!

Tom Wayfinder is looking for a place to call home and has travelled the wide world to find it. Always short of cash he’s had to take a variety of daring and dangerous jobs to pay his way.

He’s been thrown overboard in the Pacific Ocean, rescued by a Mermaid, fought with the Kraken of the Deep, climbed a Mexican Volcano and run for his life from the Aztec Lord of the Sun, joined an expedition to the Arctic and got eaten by a Polar Bear (almost), before arriving at The Riverside Festival in York.

Riddling competition winners will be those who solve all the riddles pinned up around the site and make up their own riddle for the tiebreaker. Clues to the riddles are in the stories!

Several prizes including signed story-books by prizewinning children’s writers Trish Cooke and Melvin Burgess.

Disabled Access
Due to the ‘work in progress’ state of the Arts Barge at this year’s festival, we regret that wheelchair access down to the performance space is not possible.

Through Riverside 2019 we aim to raise interest and funds to return in 2020 with full disabled access lift and toilet facilities.

In the meantime, the gang-planks onto the barge are wide and wheelchair users are very welcome to enjoy the deck area. Our Riverside marquee (24th - 28th July) is free and accessible to all. Accessible toilet facilities in St. George’s Field car park, will be available during all Arts Barge Riverside Festival opening hours.
