Tommy Foggo, Superhero!

Tommy Foggo is an amazing, one-hour cello playing, interactive story and song drama, coupled with comedy and unique visual and physical theatre. Also featuring an underwater battle between a Sperm Whale and a Colossal Squid!

Tommy’s mum had told him to wait for her at the bus stop and they’d go to the seaside and she’d buy him a real Italian ice cream, but she didn’t show up and he never saw her again. It felt to Tommy like he’d been stuck there at that bus stop for a zillion years.

And then, one day, all the rage inside him exploded and he ran away – to the seaside. He was looking for an Italian ice cream, perhaps he even thought he’d find his mum - but, instead, he found Destino, a talking Cello with a mission.

Tommy Foggo and Destino travel together to the depths of the ocean to rescue the Lost Queen of Atlantis and save us all from the giant, venomous and cold-blooded Kraken of the Deep.

But Tommy’s real battle is with himself, with his loss, with his anger. Will he turn out to be “big enough” to deal with it?

Performed by Matthew Sharp, music by Stephen Deazley, story and libretto by Martin Riley.

Tickets £10 adult / £8 child / £30 family (2 adults + 2 children) from the Great Yorkshire Fringe website.

Disabled Access
Due to the ‘work in progress’ state of the Arts Barge at this year’s festival, we regret that wheelchair access down to the performance space is not possible.

Through Riverside 2019 we aim to raise interest and funds to return in 2020 with full disabled access lift and toilet facilities.

In the meantime, the gang-planks onto the barge are wide and wheelchair users are very welcome to enjoy the deck area. Our Riverside marquee (24th - 28th July) is free and accessible to all. Accessible toilet facilities in St. George’s Field car park, will be available during all Arts Barge Riverside Festival opening hours.
